missed oblation run.tofi rally day.lantern parade.
i missed my supposed to be first encounter with the ever famous OBLATION RUN. sigh. (teehee).it was my fault actually. or rather would say fault of the traffic situation as well. i could have arrived right on time if not for that stupid traffic jam at EDSA. see, i spent 150php for a taxi fare just to make sure that i will be smacked right there at the AS to see those APO neophytes, and probably to get a rose from one of them (asa!).
probably not my luck. period.
hai.. maybe i'm not meant to be devirginized as my lola has coined it. explanation?
she said that a virgin has:
-never been touched
-never has seen
-never has something (really, i don't remember the last one).
and i have forgotten about the issue. and it trailed off.

though i missed my 'supposed to be' first Oblation run sighting, i had my first taste of a mobilization for of course, student's rights.
i am a UP Rep applicant remember and we were asked to bring an attire that has this glam rock aura (aha! now i remember: it was because of this that i took off home late!). it was for the lantern parade, as they have told us during our first general meeting. it would be a black parade, goths and everything representing our mourning for the injustices that isko's and iska's are currently experiencing.
and for that, i rummaged every closet in the house to find that excellent outfit. i can't really explain the specifications of the dress but it was ok. i borrowed deah's chucks to complete the attire.
we were dressed up at about two in the afternoon. my golly, it was really a rush. i was asking them why do we have to be dressed up so early to think that the parade's not until the evening. nobody answered me. of course, i pitied myself and got dressed anyway.
upon returning to the tambayan, i saw them all glammed up and having a good time commenting on each others attire. haha. and just like that, i was asked by a member to buy safety pins. my golly wow, i was treated as a maid. i wanted to defer my application right at that very instant.
and off i went to the AS to buy some for them (note: i was already in my 'costume' so i think, all eyes were on me then). when i got back, they were all prepped up, complete with props and make-up. i was scurrying to death because they were having some rehearsals and because i don't know to apply make-up!! i don't know what happened next but i just saw my face looking like this:
[yea. i do still have the time to have that precious vanity moment. nice eye make-up eh? :D]
this thing's going too long.
and there, we were then asked to join the instant rehearsals. i was an instant performer too. without further do, off we went with us applicants holding up the company's banner.
we walked going to the Quezon hall where tibaks were gathered guarding the BOR meeting. but before that, we had a stop over at the AS steps. again, without further do, we performed the instant chant right then and there. i could really feel my face turning tomato red in shame!!
the members were howling like crazy when we were walking and when we finally reached Quezon hall, the students there started cheering for the company. and so that was it: UP Rep is a tibak group and their mission? to provide entertainment for the student heroes of the campus to continue to fight for what is right.
again, we performed the instant chant in front of them all. i was shy, but after that, i felt happy. i was back to being me: a performer. maybe not that good, but still, a performer. it was a great joy to see smiles from those perspiring and paos students. (yea, the power of a smile.) :]
[at this point, i still don't know if we are still going to be part of the parade.]
it was a tough day to be in a mobilization. but it was worth it. though personally i don't believe in a rally's essence, being part of it once was a great experience. being surrounded with students that are full of concern for the welfare of others was a moment i could never ever forget.
i do not say that i've developed a tibak in me already. i just say that now, i do care on what's happening. and i will try my best to help provide justice, not by harshness but through peace (God help me. :l )
hai. and the rest was history. :D

and so Cao cancelled the lantern parade due to a hearsay bomb threat. kalokohan. you're like Arroyo: canceling the ASEAN Summit just like that.
i was saddened by the news but was still hopeful. hindi ko na nga alam ang papaniwalaan ko. one time, someone will say that the parade is cancelled. at the other, tuloy na tuloy daw.
sayang ang effort ng lahat. pati na rin ang excitement ng mga taong mababaw ang kaligayahan tulad ko. tsktsk.
there was a small parade, but from what i have heard, it was just FA's lanterns. it was not the annual grand lantern parade where every college has one. i did not get the chance to see those various lanterns because as i have told you, i was in a mob. thanks to atan, he got shots of it on my cam. it was a beauty. plus, there were my batchmates vanity pictures. how i wish i was with them laying lazily at the sunken garden and enjoying each other's company.
hai.
much have been said.
many has to be done.
God bless everyone.
:D
